klima:aktiv show house in Echsenbac/Northern Austria
Klima:aktiv is an initiative by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management to implement and fulfil the Kyoto protocols. Since autumn 2004 HARTL HAUS has been an official partner in the Ministry’s action and has built the first prefabricated klima:aktiv model house.

With the construction of another prefabricated klima:aktiv model house HARTL HAUS is leading the way as pioneer for environmental building and healthy living and have once more set new standards.

The central goal was first and foremost to stimulate environmental and climate friendly construction in a decisive way and to react to the requirements of the ecological way of building by innovative concepts and additionally contribute considerably to protection of the environment.

Good health is the greatest blessing a man can get – this is optimally considered with HARTL HAUS’ klima:aktiv house. Energy X is an exemplary housing concept regarding ecology and energy technology.

The Energy X model house was built in cooperation with the VELUX company and is demonstrating the advantages of great living comfort as well as those of a considerably better energy balance as a saving of up to 20% has been gained by use of ecological building materials.

House type 153 S ”Energy X” Calculation of areas according to Ó-Standard B 1800, for Germany DIN 277

Flap tile 2,32 m
Roof 7 degree. Pent roof with sloped facade
108,62 m² Built-up area
89,03 m² Floor plan area
74,51 m² Attic storey
163,34 m² Total area
1,98 m² Airspace
He, who builds climate friendly, gets a double reward: On the one hand better living quality through increased comfort and on the other long term lower energy costs! For example, the heating consumption of an Energy X house is approx. 80% lower than of a house built according to the building regulations.

HARTL HAUS uses only tested and certified building materials. The basic building material, timber, as a natural and renewable raw material is, therefore, predestined for ecological construction and achieves a brilliant OI3 value out of 17.3. By means of the Ökoindex (= Ecology index) 3 (OI3) the environmental quality of the building production is evaluated concerning the primary energy content, the greenho use potential and the acidification potential.

With the klima:aktiv wall construction of HARTL HAUS, a huge amount of CO2 is saved, as wood is saving CO2. In comparison, by building a house as a massive construction 25 Tonnes more CO2 are produced (25 Tonnes CO2 correspond to consumption of 8.3 Tonnes of oil.)
The open and spacious room concept in the living and dining area offers ample free space and comfort possibilities.

The huge glazed area to the south enables utilization of solar heat and creates a wonderful bright and light-flooded living environment. The extra room at the ground floor serves either as study or guest room.

The extra shower room with separate toilet is thus creating a small apartment in the hall area separated from the living and kitchen areas by the glazed sliding doors.
The oldest manufacturer of prefabricated houses in Austria is predominantly building houses according to the klima:aktiv guide lines. So every HARTL HAUS can be built in the klima:aktiv version, independent of the architecture. The klima:aktiv building standard describes houses of especially high quality and this way of building is most certainly the standard of the future. Consequently, HARTL HAUS is contributing positively to the protection of the environment.
In the upper floor there are two children’s rooms of almost the same size as well as a bedroom for the parents. The spacious bathroom has room enough for both a bathtub and a shower cabin. An interesting eye catcher is the gallery from where you get to the balcony by a glass bridge.

The Energy X house captivates by its unusual visual appearance, the well thought out floor plan and the excellent energy values. In the long run, the klima:aktiv way of building will save enormous costs and in addition protect the environment.

In a HARTL klima:aktiv house quality and know-how are based on environmental friendly planning, building and healthy materials. But not only that, because under the terms of environmental impact, cost effectiveness and sustainability it is first and foremost the perfect workmanship, the optimal heat and fire protection as well as the best possible sound insulation that are considered. And what is special about this is that everything comes from the same hand.
